Post subject:  Resident Skeptic: Former JSBC President spoke at FWC last Sunday(L)

In his first sermon at FWC since returning to JSM, Dr. Gray spoke on the topic of Brokenness. In this moving and emotional message, Gray opens up with incredible transparency about his resignation as JSBC President in 1986 after serving in that capacity for 3 years. Dr. Gray and his family moved to Baton Rouge in 1983 to start the college for the Swaggarts. The college opened in September 1984 with 470 students. Dr. Gray shared how his wife began to suffer emotionally to the point he could no longer serve in the capacity of President. He then testified of their road to recovery after this terrible time that left them completely broken. The Swaggarts' lack of response and emotion during this message was very apparent. When Dr. Gray turned and gave Gabriel Swaggart a Paul/Timothy type charge about his family life, you could have heard a pin drop. The theme of brokenness is foreign to these people. Swaggart has persistently spiritualized his own failures over the years, blaming them on a lack of a clear revelation of the cross rather than acting broken over them. I simply cannot imagine Swaggart doing what Gray did, humbling himself before a church and being open about his failure as a way to help others. Furthermore, as I recall, Swaggart was very critical of the Grays when they resigned, casting aside any consideration that there was any such thing as clinical depression. When Dr. Gray mentioned in his sermon about his wife getting on the right meds, I can just imagine what was going through Jimmy's mind. Here is a link to the message. When this link opens, you might have to select the 03/26/17 PM message. sonlifetv.com/archives.html

Not long, I'm afraid. He'll be dismissed for not having the correct understanding of the cross. Had he had a proper understanding off the cross back in 1986, he never would have had to resign from JSBC
