A Doctrine of the Resurrection - rewards for the righteous and retribution for the unrighteousA Doctrine of Sincere Repentance - with a consciousness of one's responsibility to fulfill God's will, recognizing a higher purpose for the LawA Doctrine that God determines the course of events except for the individual's response to the Torah. This position helped in the development of repentance, divine forgiveness, and reward and punishment. Human suffering was viewed as the result of disobedience. While the Apostle Paul provides us with insights into the Resurrection unknown to the Pharisees, yet as a Pharisee he would be fully aware of a fundamental principle of the resurrection - rewards for the righteous and retribution for the unrighteous. His encounter with a Resurrected Jesus (Acts 9) and subsequent three years in which he developed the Gospel message he took to the Gentiles (Galatians 1:15f) obviously gave new meaning to the importance of the resurrection to Jesus' followers (1 Corinthians 15; Philippians 3:21; 1 Thessalonians 4:13f, etc.)
