| Bob (Bobby Eugene) Bohannon#12158Born in 1931Passed at 11:27pm on December 26, 2015Many people across the Church of God will know and remember Bob Bohannon as having been a pastor, a district overseer, a state evangelism director, a chairman of the Southwest Indian Ministries, a state council member, a state evangelism board member, a state evangelist, and on and on and on. He has mentored countless men and women in ministry. He is a giant in the faith, a fixture in the state of Texas and he is and was my grandfather. He taught me how to fish. He taught me how to bait a hook. He taught me how to clean the fish we caught with the same pocket knife that he taught me how to eat Vienna sausages out of a can with and that he cleaned under his finger nails with. Lol. Gross! I shot my first deer with his rifle as he sat next to me in the deer stand. He carried me to hunt jack rabbits and coyotes with his greyhounds and Irish wolf hounds. He let me drive his pickup truck on those west Texas back roads. He let me teach my first Sunday school class. He let me write and direct my first church Christmas musical. He let me preach my first sermon. He carried me with him many, many times when he drove the vast territory of West Texas and New Mexico to handle Church of God business and to minister to other pastors and their families during crisis and need.He wasn't the perfect man. He wasn't the perfect husband. He wasn't the perfect father. He wasn't the perfect pastor. He would have never claimed any of that. He stressed often to never, ever brag on yourself! Always let someone else brag on you. Perhaps his favorite title in life was Redeemed. His favorite song, a song we will sing Thursday at his funeral was I'm Redeemed. He loves Jesus. He preached Jesus and Jesus coming. He is now seeing face-to-face the Jesus he preached. He is redeemed! He joined the many he loved in life that were waiting for him there. I have one more reason now that I want to go! I am so thankful that I too am redeemed! My family is thankful during this time and always for our Church of God family! We will gather for visitation on Wednesday in Weatherford, Texas. The service will be on Thursday at the North Main COG in Weatherford, Texas at noon. Papa Bo will be buried in Iowa Park, Texas later on Thursday around 5pm. Thank you for the many prayers, calls, comments, messages and texts. Each one is felt and appreciated. We love you.
