My favorite Bible is a King James Version. That is only because that is what I was raised with. And because that is 100% of my memory verses.I read and have read many versions, but my upbringing (0-16yrs) seems to guide my actions, standards and morals.Besides Paul wrote a lot of it, and I like Bro. Paul. BEsides I have always thought the Thine, thou's and y'alls sounded biblical. My wife's preference is NIV. (She doesn't read it aloud) Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]://shipslog-jack.blogspot.com/

My favorite Bible is the Spirit Filled Life Bible, NKJV. It has excellent study notes and references. I'm on either my third or fourth one. I also like to read the NIV & Amplified when I'm studying to see if I see anything in a different light. My NIV also has great study notes. I grew up with the KJV, also, Cojak, and all my memory verses are from there, too. But I like the way the NKJV is a little clearer without taking away from the beauty of how it was written More of Him...less of me.http://twitter.com/camiracle77http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=691241499&ref=name

I am not KJV-only. In fact, as I have stated here before, the very best NEW CONVERT Bible is, I believe, the Reader's Digest Condensed Version of the Bible. It is superb and removes much of the redundancy. Further, it was done carefully. But for me, the KJV is the gold standard. Not that it's perfect, I'm sure, but because I think that the very best and brightest of scholarship went into it. Further, it has the dual advantages of not only keeping us in touch with our English roots, but making it much easier to read Shakespeare!Further, one problem with multiple versions is that it pretty much does away with scripture memorization. If you are quoting John 3:16from the KJV, I know if you missed a single word. But if every version is acceptable for memorization, the verse can be significantly different, yet make the cut. It's just a matter of standardization for me. Too often, when I read other versions, I am taken aback at how stupid they must think their readers. I realize that some readers are indeed below average in terms of literacy, but some of these books are maddeningly inept. I even get upset when certain KJV Bibles offer readers helpful translations. For instance, take unto you the whole armor of God is helped by telling us that take unto you means take up the whole armor of God. I mean, who would have thought that?

My favorite Bible is the one that belonged to my Dad. My Mom gave it to me not long before she passed. It is full of sermon notes written on all sorts of paper. There's even an old check with notes on the back of it. That's how they used to do it.

I remember dad being the same way: Preserve that thought the paper, pen or pencil did not matter, but get it down NOW while you still have it.Something special about holding the same Bible your Dad used. I no longer have dad's, I wish I hadn't given it away. Thanks Eddie, that is 'sweet' reminder to me about my dad. Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]://shipslog-jack.blogspot.com/

My favorite bible was the Nelson N.K.J.V study bible. I use to get a deal from C.B.D. and could get a great deal several times a year and would buy up about a half of dozen and give them away. They have Great foot notes. I have bought several others over years and read them for a while, but have always went back to my Nelson
