| Post subject: | buttrfli24: Am I Making Serving God Harder Than It Is? |
After some brief discussion and reading through other thoughts on a thread about homosexuality in the church, I have a new question...Why is this so hard?It seems like we argue an awful lot about what the Bible says, what it means, whether it is literal or not, which parts we still have to follow, which parts are culturally driven, on and on and on. Why is it so hard?I've been in the church my entire life. I'm fourth generation Church of God, not that is matters, and went to college at one of our schools. I feel like I know very little and have so much to learn about God and the word... yet I still am surprised by how little comparatively people know when we have a conversation about God. I suddenly feel like a scholar even though I'm not compared to the little they seem to know.So why is this so hard? Are we making it hard? Am I making it hard for myself

Grace is an easy yoke...easy believism.Mat 11:28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For

There are only 2 kinds of people in the world - the righteous (believers, under grace) and the unrighteous (unbelievers, under law). When you're under law the accuser (

buttrfli24, you are going to have to find some easier questions! I am laughing at myself here. I have always been a person of logic in this life. So when it comes to the religious realm I try to be logical, then it doesn't work I cannot get YES or NO answers that I can chew and digest. The answer to your question is YES many make their own walk of faith harder than it needs be. I have found His yoke easy and the burdens light (Heavv burdens did become light Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/

with on on this issue and hijack this thread but,While I agree with most of what you say and I do believe you can fall to sin while still being saved, but a lifestyle surrendered to the sinful flesh will disqualify your relationship with God over time. Unbelief certainly disqualifies you but what of this: (and I only am using NIV for ease of reading - I study from many translations and read some greek and very little hebrew but computer understands more than me)Gal 5:16-21NIV So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. (17) For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. (1But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. (19) The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; (20) idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions (21) and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.1Jn 3:5-10NIV But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. (6) No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. (7) Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. (The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work. (9) No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. (10) This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God's child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.

Again, these are passages that need to be understood with precision, rightly divided. Here's how they read in a more accurate version:Gal 5:16
