Brad didn't miss the point at all.In fact I'm more encouraged hearing the word explained Brad's way on that verse that the way Glen teaches it.Glen pastors the church around the corner from our church & I like his teaching over all but I do agree with Brad more on this particular subject than Glen. Grace has never been a license to sin. I'm not saying that it is or that it would be.If somebody thinks they have a license to sin then it means they have not come to the fullness of salvation yet.Grace doesn't equal free sin for everybody.Grace equals sin is now gone & you don't have to live this way any more.The guy who supposedly gets saved & then returns back to his sin life is a guy who has not accepted grace in his life.They have a form of Godliness but deny the power thereof ...the power of God's grace.Seems like a lot of dyed in the wool pentecostals really struggle with grace because we secretly like the notion of the 'back door' theology that grace has to be earned, by way of our own good standards & keeping of the rules.That isn't grace, that's works.If grace is a gift then it has to be treated like a gift which means it has to be accepted & treasured. Grace isn't the Slurpee flavor of the week at 7-11 which changes & gets tossed out.Grace is permanent & it brings on change in us by the Holy Ghost by way of conviction that God puts in our spirit to help keep the flesh under control. Nope, grace is never earned. At the same time, grace NEVER condones/allows for willful sin. yeah, As long as you don't struggle against sin (and according to some there's only one sin apparently, that's unbelief). So I guess God is chastising His children for unbelief here? How are they His children if they don't believe? Is their struggle against unbelief rather that the old-fashioned notion of sin?Hebrews 12:4In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. 5 And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says,“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,6 because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”[a]
