I will be in Orlando and will be around in the display areas for a few days as well as attending the Lee Alumni reception. I hope to see you there. However, the reason I am posting is to discuss the state of the Assembly. With no committee voting, I just wonder about the attendance. I have spoken with several people who have never missed that are not attending. I think there is another factor. I believe that membership is losing their sense of fellowship. Why should a member go? It is happening here in North Georgia as well. Camp meeting is gone. Done! There is a conference in August way south of Atlanta. The members are not going to attend this. I am not being critical. I am just saying things are changing quickly and I think it is possible that this Assembly will be the lowest attended one in years. This is just my thought. Maybe and hopefully, I am wrong.

I have not attended Assembly in many years, no criticism, it just doesn't seem to relate to my life and ministry so I choose not to go.As for the NGA gathering, a pastor in that state told me there was a huge crowd there last year and the comments were all very positive so it sounds like some folks prefer that to traditional Camp Meeting style gatherings.

I pastor in North Georgia. I am not attending the Assembly, or the conference in August. I can't imagine anything of substance bring discussed at the Assembly. I'm not concerned about who serves on the Council of 18, or who leads World Missions. Who serves there has very little impact on our local church. There I said it. As for the August conference, I appreciate the idea. However I'm not driving to the opposite side of Ga, and fighting Atlanta traffic, for a 1 day conference....especially on a Saturday. Long way to go, to turn around and come back, with church the next day. For me, the benefit ain't worth the bother

We haven't attended the GA since our kids aged out of Teen Talent. Back when my husband pastored, we always laughed at the letters they sent encouraging the church to take up an offering of $1000 or $2000 to send us. They couldn't even pay us $100/wk in tithes most of the time! LOLI think GA is much more geared to ministers rather than laity now, especially since Teen Talent is no longer a part of it. Much like they are doing with campmeeting. The evening services keep getting earlier and earlier. It's really difficult for who works a secular job to leave work on time, clean up, change clothes and drive any distance and get there by 6:30pm. I don't know what time GA services are, just using that as an example of its being geared more towards ministers now.Tom Sterbens posted something in a couple of the COG groups on FB that I'm going to share that has some info about the upcoming GA in it. Might be of interest to you, Eddie, and any others that are attending More of Him...less of me.twitter.com/camiracle77www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=691241499&ref=name

Not attending this time around.Used to take several from our church & many times made a great statement from the California delegation ...I'm afraid those days are long gone.Several pastors from the west are not attending this year.Very little reason to attend & who wants to go to Orlando in late July early August anyway?I too think you hit the nail on the head where the fellowship has died a slow death.Honestly I would rather go to GA & hear our own people sing & preach but we're just not going to hitch on to the current agenda Empty nest syndrome is for the birds!Email me at: [email protected] planters are focused on just one thing ...introducing people to Jesus!
