I want you to consider what can be lost when ransomware strikes. A beautiful photograph...perhaps the last one you will ever make with some beloved friend.Perhaps important documents/records, without which, you face an tsunami of bureaucracy.Perhaps a novel or paper you have labored hard and long over.Perhaps a precious scanned note that meant the world to you.Outside of outright murder or other such heinous crimes, it is hard to fathom what could be much worse than to, in a way, steal a person's most precious things. Some things are no replaceable.I have never been the victim of such, but I have heard of others who have been. I can think of few things that more richly deserve the death penalty than to steal what isn't yours...and then make you pay--often through the nose--to get it back.
