[quote=Ronald]Sophisticated for Pentecost?[/quoteI think I understand where you're going with this, but please clarify to facilitate discussion. How do you define Pentecost. Please be specific

I'm not being snarky, I promise you, but doesn't it takes more than tongues and interpretation to constitute Pentecost. Shall I speak frankly? If all we have is tongues and interpretation, then we have severely devalued Pentecost. If we are regarding Pentcostal as shouting, dancing, speaking in tongues, interpretation, etc.then in all honesty aren't we thinking too small when we think Pentecostal? Is our definition too small?Just thinking out loud

iYou've started a great discussion. To facilitate, may I ask a question? Is our idea of tongues biblical or traditional

Perhaps not so much a desire for sophistication, but an absence of zeal. Why can't we be like them? Was and is a spiritual cancer. The Church of God forefathers (and Mothers) possessed such a burning zeal for the Gospel that recognition by the nominal brethren was not an issue at all.The question of What can I get away with and still go to Heaven when I die?Got no traction.I want to know more about my Lord Is their theme Charles A. I believe in all the gifts, but I see Pentecostal Power as the Spirit filled power to win souls as the last words of Jesus on earth in Acts 1:8-98But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” 9 After He had said this, they watched as He was taken up, and a cloud hid Him from their sight.…We often forget about this as it is more comfortable to do the verbal gifts in a church setting instead of obeying the Lord's command in Mark 16:15And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. The the verbs used there are in the imperative in greek. That is, a command and to make the HIGHEST PRIORITY.Jesus came Luke 19:10tells us For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”John tells us in 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.Peter tells us in 2 Peter 3:9The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance Since God has put the highest priority on this and since God has given us the power for this, shouldn't we make this the highest priority. The thing is we were talking about being ashamed of pentecost. Well many are afraid and ashamed to be called a religious nut if we walk up to those we don't know and start sharing the good news of salvationI don't want to bury my gift when my master returns, but see much increase

Great post... no disrespect intended to any opinions in this thread (this is just mine) but when I see Pentecost reduced to just tongues, or to emotive expressions like shouting and dancing, it seems like the true power of Pentecost is being overshadowed.
