I come across a Facebook post today of a feller I done been knowin at a distance for some 30 years now. I don't know him personally at all, just who he is. Everthing was just as its been since I been knowin the feller, cept one thing. This time they was 3 letters after his name, ThD. This is somethin I had never seen.Now the ole timer didn't wanna believe it. But after goin to his church website, the truth was discovered. A degree mill in Louisiana had done bestowed what they was callin a ThD on the feller and he is now usin the letters to sign even his FaceBook article posts. This is the kinda behavior OTCP has been talkin bout.

Contact this vile person and confront them for their blatant disregard for all things academia. Not sure why this bugs you so much. I can think of a whole lot more egregious sins to rail about then people hiding behind some phony degrees “Hell will be filled with people that didn’t cuss, didn’t drink, and may even have been baptized. Why? Because none of those things makes someone a Christian.”

Ole Timer, I know the problem here is with the degree mill that bestowed the title, but you should be aware that Duke Divinity School offers a ThD.

If you go to the trouble to jump thru all the hoops, filling out the CC info and typing in that long number (and getting it right), and finding that secret code on the back, it would be silly not to use the title! No Cojak, I didn't make up the story. It is 100 true. He lists the name of the school on his church webite, which is how I knowed the name of it. I knowed it was a degree mill, but for confirmation, one more time went to the school's website. Fake accreditation, the whole bit.

I want the names of all COG ministers with a degree from that school on my desk by Friday morning old timer.Quit covering for them

I'm just wondering if the ThD kind of pigeon holes someone to work in seminaries, while a PhD opens up possibilities to work at secular universities? I'm assuing these are accredited degrees. You probably almost have to graduate from Harvard or Princeton to get a decently ranked state school in that field. One of the religion professors at UGA when I was an undergrad had gotten his PhD from Harvard

Old Timer,Are you going to make some kind of motion about using honorary and degree mill doctorate titles at the GA one day. You could say something about those with honorary doctorates thinking they can hang out with the real PhD's and smoke cigars, etc

NB, it just aint fair fer the ole timer to just toss out names from his research to folk what aint willin to do the research their own self. Ats like gittin a honery docterate fer doin nothin.Heres all ya gotta do. 1. Find any listing of a preacher using either the letters or Dr.2. If the school ain't listed, ats RED FLAG #1. Anybody with the real deal aint ashamed of it.3. Google the school. Check its accreditation. It won't take ya long to determine who is milled an who aint.
