They're not. They're just the first willing to own their lack of faith. The main thing represented by the growth of the nones is the emergence of a generation that is willing to be honest about its faith (or lack thereof), unlike their parents who insisted on publicly claiming a faith they never privately held.The church is long overdue for a clarifying separation between the visible and invisible believers, and while it is always disheartening to see people denying the Lord who made them, a largescale public exodus of false believers strengthens the church, clarifies for whose salvation we should be praying and to whom we should be evangelizing, and on the whole creates an environment that is more likely to result in people coming to know Christ in truth.

I see it as being rooted in my generation and, to some degree, my parents' generation not understanding that parents, in general, were being placed low on the totem pole as to primary influences in a child's life. Parents were blind-sided and were not taking the time to adequately indoctrinate their kids biblically, socially, and politically. Thus, I send my kids to private school (which helps some) but I also brainwash them every chance I get.I'm not sure most American Christians are willing to do what it would take to keep their kids from being sucked away in the flood of anti-God indoctrination. A true Christian, separatist counter-culture will have to arise

I really don't want to agree with you DD, but I do. I think you hit the nail on the head. I honestly hope for a REVIVAL. But for years (50s up to70s). Southern people 'sent' their kids to church, but did not attend. The parents felt church would give their children some direction on morals methinks, not necessarily for salvation. Then those kids just did not send their kids to church, and we wonder why!Simplistic, but anyway, I cannot convey my thoughts, but I do agree with your comment. I used to have family devotions with the kids just about every night. If we took a trip or something on a weekend we might miss a night, and occasionally a kid got in the shower at the wrong time and another one dozed off while I was waiting.Now, I work and come home on the weekend or earlier in the week if I get done with my grading and other activities, and my wife does devotions during the week.We teach our kids the Bible and pray with them. They consider the LGBT stuff to be wrong and gross. They know not to have premarital sex. No dating until they are old enough to whether they could reasonably be old enough to get married

I disagree with DD.There is indeed less faith in God in the latest generation. It is not simply a miscounting of numbers previously.And as for older generations - there is a falling away - not a revival.They are bombarded with anti God messages like no other. I don't think the Christian message is getting equal time
