My wife was reading a thread a pastor posted about how he couldn't understand why corona virus turned into a shortage of toilet paper in the store.Someone else was posting on not shaking hands on the thread. One man posted that the reason he doesn't shake hands is because people don't have toilet paper. Someone else suggested that they were going to have a big party after the Corona virus problem passes and use the toilet paper for streamers.Someone else posted people who covered themselves like mummies with Toilet paper with a caption that this is how people are protecting themselves from the corona virus. Maybe there is a mistaken assumption that TP is good for face masks.I can understand stocking up on food and toiletries in case we get locked down and home and are not allowed out and about. But what I don't get is why people go out and buy bread and milk at Walmart in the south if there is going to be a quarter inch of snow and might just leave these products on the shelf if we are going to have some cold weather when it might freeze. Maybe the reason is because everyone else buys milk and bread before it snows. But now we know-- serious respiratory disease means to buy toilet paper. Maybe some people prefer it over facial tissue, which would be a legitimate reason to buy it. If I didn't rent, I might have a bidet installed

I've seen several people saying they've taken this run on toilet paper as the final push toward installing a bidet that attaches to their toilet (which could be detached if they move). From what I understand, you can get a pretty nice one on Amazon for about $60. That's a lot of money until you consider the reduced longterm budget for toilet paper

But even doing that, you'd still save money on toilet paper, assuming the water continues to run. If water stopped running, much of the country would be in trouble. We are really dependent on utilities. But I could cut through a quarter mile of bamboo to get some water from a creek downhill that runs off what we nickname 'snake lake' on the other side of our neighborhood, if I didn't get too dehydrated out there hacking with a machete
