This actually is a confusing subject. Praise teams work great for some, the old congregational singing still works. It is hard for the old timers to wrap their minds around a praise team. When most choirs in the COG used to sing, the congregation ALWAYS joined in the whole church was singing. The music was so good many churches had about as many folks outside on the sidewalk listening as was inside. But times have changed, we now have A/C (and I am glad) but no longer can folk stand outside and hear, they would probably be home with their TV anyway. There will be discussions about Praise teams for about 10- 15 more years, then they will be part of the landscape, accepted as normal until something else replaces the TEAM.I see ONE man/woman with a guitar or on a keyboard with NO TEAM. in 30 yrs, if the Lord tarries.
