Can a Christian be forgiven without repentance and confession? Or, another question, have all Christians already been forgiven for all sins including those we shall commit in the future? Ephesians 1:7(NKJV)

I am not a hyper-grace-ist, but consider that Jesus prayed for His Father to forgive them, for they know not what they do.Do we dare think the Father didn't do that? Do we dare think that this display of incredible love was ignored by heaven?Or what about when Stephen asked God not to lay it to their charge as he was stoned to death?

Aaron,Is that forgiveness for sins we don't know we have committed only? What if we know it is sin - and still don't fix it?If the Holy Spirit tells you that you have not forgiven someone, and you don't make it right - and ask forgiveness - would that be different

I like how you said that. It is obvious Jesus didn't call down to them and say, The FAther will forgive you, I will see you in paradise.I agree he said basically, mark this one off! I just discussed this with my Christian Wife! We both like your comment. This is one reason I hang out here on ACTS, Thanks. Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/

It indeed could be for sins committed in which we don't realize we are doing wrong. After all, Jesus said, ...for they know not what they do.If we KNOW it is sin, well, I don't know just how that works. I wonder if the woman at the well was aware that, surely, she was in sin at some point? If so, Jesus didn't say repent. Instead, she brought forth works meet for repentance, I think. As for not forgiving...Jesus said that if we don't forgive, we cannot be forgiven. So I'm thinking that you would NOT be forgiven on that one--especially KNOWING that the Holy Spirit has told you to do so.

As to the forgiving others lest we be not forgiven - I'm throwing this out to hear back, I was severely wronged a few years back & I have a tough time even thinking about the people involved. Cannot think for one moment of any reason I would want to be in the same room as them & I have asked the Lord to remove this bitterness. For a human to forgive the wrongs of another human it takes some real honest to goodness super strength in some instances.I have forgiven people of all types of things over the years but certain things have a lingering effect.I guess I just can't see the Lord keeping us out of heaven if while in our flesh we have a real tough time with certain offenses. My thoughts are like if we're not forgiven of our sins then God will not let us in to heaven. Empty nest syndrome is for the birds!Email me at: [email protected] planters are focused on just one thing ...introducing people to Jesus!

Jesus did it right.Mark 2:5And Jesus seeing their faith *said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.Luke 7:48Then He said to her, “Your sins have been forgiven.” 49 Those who were reclining at the table with Him began to say to themselves, “Who is this man who even forgives sins?” 50 And He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.John 8:11She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more.”No apology. No promise to change. No confession. No request to be forgiven. Just faith I'm not saved because I'm good. I'm saved because He's good!My website: www.bradfreeman.comMy blog: bradcfreeman.tumblr.com/

When John the Baptist went before the Lord to prepare his way, his message was one of repentance. (Matthew 3:2)Jesus came to call sinners to repentance. (Matthew 9:13)Peter preached a message of repentance. Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. (Acts 3:19)Paul preached a message of repentance toward God and faith toward Jesus Christ. (Acts 20:21)Paul said ...godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation... (2 Corinthians 7:9-11)Take a look at the passage in which Peter responds to Simon the sorcerer who offered money for the ability to lay hands on people to receive the Holy Ghost.Acts 8:20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

Bonnie,Brad indicated the woman caught in adultery did not voice repentance - and he concludes it was not necessary - just faith.Since Jesus can perceive faith without it being spoken - could he also perceive repentance without it being spoken? There are times he indicates that we must confess who Jesus is with our voice - but not the others...but it doesn't necessarily mean they did not occur (Faith , Repentance, Confession, Salvation
