Does anyone else like their Christmas church music to be kind of traditional? I do for a lot of the old hymns. I prefer a traditional sound to new arrangements of hymns like Hark, the Herald Angels Sing, Oh Come, All Ye Faithful and Joy to the World. Something I noticed in Indonesia is that the rhythm to the songs can be just a bit different to fit with the words, which messes makes the songs easy to mess up when singers sing them in English. The words get translated differently, too. Jesus, Lord at Thy birth becomes Jesus, Son of David in Silent Night. I heard a version of jingle bells for a performance at church--- why I do not know-- and the Indonesian version says something about a merry Christmas and nothing at all about a one-horse open sleigh. They probably can't relate to that very well to the idea of a sleigh in the tropics
