My Wife and I have self supported our ministry many times over the years. I know there are many bivocational pastors and youth pastors that minister completely out of calling. If there was not salary who would stillWant to be a youth pastor or senior pastor. Who would consider the state AB as a ministry without salary? Who would serve on the executives committee or Missions committee without salary? Some of the best pastors are the ones that do it 100% as a calling reguardlessOf income. If an AB really pastors his pastors it is a calling that is very stressful. Who would do it while also being a pastor if there was no salary? Who would be the shepherds? Pastors? AB’s? Executive leaders? The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.Has salary, positions and power Replaced passion and calling in the church in America? I’m not saying salary means hireling. Just wondering what motivates Most in Ministry

I was not suggesting that anyone not get paid. The question was would they without the salary. Is it truly a calling or career? Some extremely large denominations have administratiors that still pastor. I personally think some very gifted people will not accept administrative positions because it requires abandoning their primary calling. Then you have others that returning to the pastorate would be considered a demotion. They would take any position to stay in the system and not return to the field. You destroy departments by placing uninterested leaders in those jobs. You see this in the local church as well. Real Calling will require sacrifice and determination. My question is are people in a Calling or a Career
