Remember a few years ago when a dude who worked at head quarters embezzled some money and went to jail?

Surely you jest. Are you implying there should be accountability/transparency in these situations? Didn't you get the memo that saidtrust us “Hell will be filled with people that didn’t cuss, didn’t drink, and may even have been baptized. Why? Because none of those things makes someone a Christian.”

We were promised a full accounting of how much of that money we received back from restitution + insurance. I have never seen that accounting given. But, at least GAs don't cost as much now when you add up all the criminal activity that is no longer taking place. Perhaps that stopped the GA every 4 years talk from resurfacing for a while

“A few years ago” = 20 years ago! Good grief! Not that money, this was 4 or 5 years ago, that he's talking about, I think.

It was more than 4-5 years ago but here’s the deal- these things run in cycles. And the cycle is just enough time for the new leaders to forget or not know about the previous mismanagement. Mix that With the fact that the situations are rarely addressed publicly and hardly ever fully resolved and you’ve got a recipe for a repeat. Since the most recent unfortunate situation at HQ- what policies have changed to prevent that? I know the finance guy retired but do we now have a new billing process that prevents anyone from stealing money like this again? How are funds requested and approved from department to department?Just think about it- fancy trips to the hot springs, council trips to NYC, steak dinners every meeting- all paid from the widows mite. I know some of you will cry “honor to whom honor is due” we’ll how about this- how about we honor every person that gives and every church that pays their franchise fee by having transparency and full disclosure about spending? That’s real honor. I don’t think many people would have a problem with honoring boards that give extra time and serve but the hidden stuff brings suspicion
