Growing up I thought there were COG folk, Baptist and Catholic. When I started chasing a sweet COG girl (later my wife) I learned her dad was Presbyterian and her mama COG. The story was neither parent went to church mama was invited to a tent meeting and was saved in the Belmont COG (NC). Soon her husband (girlfriends daddy) not thrilled with his wife's COG experience started going to the Presbyterian Church and tried to force (encourage the wife to go with him.). She being her own person said I started to church first, you should go with me. He did not, and was known to throw the 'pharisee' title around toward the COG. He never changed nor did she, they actually raised a good family, MAINLY BECAUSE MY MOTHER IN LAW WAS A TRUE CHRISTIAN. I never met a better example as a Christian.I know relatively little about other denominations but I do know one thing, Wiley (father in law) was the first Presbyterian and Republican I ever met. The Republican thing was basically unheard of in a cotton mill town. But he was a mill worker who was not a Democrat. VERY UNUSUAL in the 40-50 era.I never met a real witch, met a few who I considered a witch. LO Some facts but mostly just my
