Much of that in the OP is a fact. I always question the 'lied to' part because it never happened to me. I really feel a little tinge if I state as a fact, I was lied to. Even in business when I felt like using that statement, I thought long and hard. The secular world is the only place I have felt 'That was in fact a lie!'I do have friends in the COG ministry that say they were 'mislead', one said out right he was lied to, but in many cases it was a spin to keep from embarrassing an individual.The 'Lied to' part always bothers me, when referring to our church leaders. I cannot say it doesn't happen of course, but some stories I could see where there could be a lot of misunderstanding.I have even heard it said about some pastors. I did have a pastor once that knew the overseer was coming to check out some accusations and we met in the church. Remember the Church registers? We used to put up front the in SS, YPE etc. When I met with the overseer we talked and he said, Looking at the register you guys are doing great. (I had not noticed the register.)When I returned to the little sanctuary I looked at the board, WOW we had 92 in SS and $71 in offerings. That church had never had more than 35 people attend. I asked my pastor later, What happened to the board?Jack, I was dusting and knocked the 's off the board and just stuck them back up, I didn't pay attention if they were correct or not.Now was that a lie?
